[Skip Straight to Progress]
Right, so here I am! Really looking forward to seriously getting started on a training regimen.
For me, the SEESFIT, erm, programme [?] offers these benefits/features:
- Knowledge sharing towards a common goal.
- More people know what you are doing, which means more people motivating you, and more people that will kick your ass if you stop ;)
- Use of social software for something else. I am keen to see how I utilise services/tech will streamline a non-techie activity..
- A chance to meet new people online, and perhaps even offline!
Goals
Since I don't really have a firm goal in mind, I thought I would keep it simple:
"I want to look good naked."
So, I need to get lean, get fit and bulk up a bit. I expect this to probably put me in the 73-75kg weight category. I am about 1.8 meters tall. I do not know my current weight, as I need to buy some good scales.
The Plan
My current plan is to:
- Start running on a regular basis.
- Improve my diet and track it to ensure I do not overdo it on crap.
- Establish a "workflow" of how I am processing my training information with the tools/services available.
- Invest some money into any equipment I need (scales being the first!).
- Establish a workout routine/plan to supplement the running.
- Log as much information as I can about all aspects of my training and make it available to others.
Concerns
- Dying due to heart failure before I get the chance to look good naked.
- Alcohol will be my Achilles heel. I have a "work hard, play hard" attitude, which can often lead to heavy drinking. I have fun and I love it.. I know I need to cut down. It will be hard.
For the most part, in the beginning I wont be too strict with some of the levels until I get into the swing of it. I just want to get started, get thinking and get fit!
I will endevour post a progress update daily :) Watch this space!

Decided no exercise today as arms and shoulders a little tight and I wanted to keep legs fresh for a good run tomorrow. I slept REALLY heavy too, which is a good sign that the diet/exercise are doing something.
I used to sleep BRILLIANTLY when training before (my ex gf used to be amazed how I would just go "I sleep now" then boom! I was out. Healthy body, healthy mind and all that :)
Today I really wanted to have a serious go at the food, since I feel pretty good anyway, I didn't find it that hard. I had a great breakfast of muesli and yogurt (may add some water or fruit juice or something as recommended on the net - this is all new to me!) since it kinda just became a lumpy mass :D
Lunch I preferenced fruit rather than a second sandwich like I normally do, which helped a lot.
Dinner I had a small helping of rice (50g) and some stir fry veg with a little sesame oil, it FEELS light and I dont feel hungry at all and according to the packets, there was not a lot of calories in there. Im actually a little worried that I didn't eat enough?!
Struggling with water intake still, I think the people in the office now think I have a prostate problem or something, I get funny looks. But its helping I certainly feel wetter :)
Looking forward to tomorrow :) Run in the morning, date in the evening :) Nice!

45 mins Workout |

Woke up, legs sore from yesterday, so I decided "no run" and I'd do a workout when I get home. I need to make sure I do weights etc. anyway since I want to get buff :D
Did a 45 min workout when I got in, felt great, really enjoyed it (I love all that) just ran out of muscular endurance. Was thinking I may get back on the supplements I used before when training, they were great.
Really struggled to try and drink more water, but I just kept peeing a lot! :P Although I did feel better.
Still concerned about diet as I was naughty and had snacks. BAD GEEK! *slap*

First day.. Found it real hard, but I do feel good about doing it!
Really need to get some scales sorted as soon as possible so I can start weighing in.
Run was hard, first time I have run in over 3 years. Got a bad stitch half way through which made the run back real hard (had to keep stopping).
Need to focus on diet as well, so will get my thinking cap on for healthier options focusing more on fruit and vegetables rather than my current favourite. Meat :)
Also feel dehydrated, need to ensure I drink a lot more water.
I dont think my calorie intake was too high, but TBH I do feel kinda bloated, so think I can either eat less or focus on smaller portions.

Great remarks, I think you're right on in your thinking about the changes you need to make. Good on ya! Keep up with the running too, even with the side stitches (it's good that you stop frequently during the runs... gradually you'll stop less and less, but for now it's good to get your fitness level up without completely wearing yourself out. Also note: Always take short breaks *BEFORE* you get tired, so that you don't get tired). By the way, if you're constantly having to spit out that sticky saliva during your run, that means you're dehydrated. Drink lots of water 2 hours before your run, and keep it up during the run too! Hope this helps! Cheers!

Last time I ran was in San Francisco, in june; I almost died! 5 years without exercise: no biking, no running, nomore B Ball neither Karaté (my fav'). I felt that as a failure, even if my back hurts every single day, I miss sports.
Keep going! Fruits, veggies are a good choice to eat less calories :)
Bon courage, you've got my support! ;-)
